The information in this document is not intended for real aviation. It is intended only for computer flight simulation.
Split Airport (LDSP/SPU) is located near the popular tourist destination of Split, Croatia. Meteorological conditions and prescribed tracks are affected by the close proximity of high mountains.
This document summarizes essential information you should know for a realistic flight simulator experience.

On the extended centreline of Runway 05, approximately 2 nautical miles before its threshold, is the city of Trogir, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Wind gusts, windshear and turbulence can be expected when strong northeasterly winds are present.
If the wind speed exceeds the aircraft type limitations for landing on runway 05, a visual approach circuit to runway 23 is used: aircraft approach from the south over the bay west of Split, followed by a left turn over the Kaštela conurbation close to the mountains, for landing on runway 23. In order to ensure sufficient separation from the mountains, a distance of 4.6 nautical miles (D4.6) from the SPL VOR/DME must not be exceeded.
RNAV VISUAL is the preferred procedure when Runway 23 is in use. The VOR-B procedure is only permitted during daylight hours.
Visual maneuvering northwest of the airport is prohibited due to terrain.
In order to minimize runway occupation times, local rules require that the runway is vacated without taxiing back on the runway if possible: preferably after landing on RWY 05 vacate via TWY B, after landing on RWY 23 vacate via TWY A. If the aircraft misses the taxiway, crews are requested to perform a 180° turn on the runway (not on the turn pad) if circumstances permit, and vacate the runway quickly.
In real life, all aircraft entering the apron are guided by a "Follow Me" vehicle.
Taxiing must be carried out using only the minimum possible thrust and at low speed.
Pushback is not used at LDSP. Aircraft leave all stands using their own power.
Wind gusts, windshear and turbulence can be expected when strong northeasterly winds are present.
On the extended centreline of Runway 23, approximately 2 nautical miles beyond its departure end, is the city of Trogir, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
For runway 05 departures, special caution is needed due to the presence of terrain obstacles. The following procedures apply:
For runway 23 departures, the following noise abatement procedures apply:
